Valderiz 2018

Valderiz is a red wine produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Valderiz in the small town of Roa de Duero, under the D.O. Ribera del Duero.

It is a single varietal wine made from the Tinta del País grape variety, the most representative variety of the Ribera del Duero appellation. The grapes come from vineyards over 25 years old planted on trellises, following the guidelines of organic farming. No herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used.

Valderiz tries to be an expression of the fruit, of the vineyard, of nature. That is why the elaboration of this wine is a very non-interventionist elaboration. Without large extractions, and without using any type of yeast external to the grape itself.

Fermentation is carried out half in steel tanks and half in barrels. Valderiz is aged for 20 months in French oak barrels (80%) and American oak (20%). The 60% of the barrel is new and the rest is from 1 wine.

A very expressive wine of the Tinta del País variety, cultivated according to organic farming, which tries to convey the character and nature of the Ribera del Duero.
